I have two return tickets (one of which ill give to someone else) anywhere on Virgin Australia's short haul network (excluding AUH and LAX). Not entirely sure where to go. Any ideas? Single, 24 year old guy.

I don't mind paying for another ticket to connect with this one. So can transit through Singapore etc.

Any ideas on where I could go? Would go for about 20ish days. Would want to maximise the value from this ticket and also find a good place to enjoy myself and meet other travellers.

How did you score those?

If it was me and I could get time off work - coughet. If I couldn't get time off work, Melbourne for the weekend.

Thanks Blackswan. I purchased them from a charity. Funny you mention coughet as it was in the newspaper today that there will be record numbers of tourists at coughet this year. It looks quite nice, however it looks like a similar destination to Bali? (which is easier to get to and cheaper)

I guess coughet is quite similar to Bali - it is starting to attract the same sort of crowd. Much of the same really.

Honiara? The Solomon Islands is a great place to visit if you have an adventurous spirit, and is nothing like Bali or coughet (which is a good thing in my books).

Cocos Islands somewhere a bit different and a bit of an adventure. The airfares are typically very pricy so you would be getting good value for money. Although it would be a very quiet for a solo traveller.

Or if you go to Bali don't spend all your time there. See other parts of Indonesia while you are in the neighbourhood. On Java I would recommend Jogja, Bandung and Bogor are worth a visit. If you want to get a bit closer to nature and want an adventure consider Lombok, Flores or Sulawesi. You do get a few backpackers in these those parts as well.
