Hi All,

I have some upcoming flights, and would like to know best place to credit.

SYD-DOH-HEL
HEL-DOH-SYD

All flights are business class on a Qatar Booking Booking and Flight numbers.

I know I can credit the QR SYD-DOH and DOH-SYD to both Velocity & QF, but what about the DOH-HEL return legs? They on a QR flight number, operated by Finnair.

VA have confirmed I can't credit to them, but Qantas hasn't confirmed. As all are in OneWorld, I assume I can credit to Qantas?

Does anyone have any advise on how to split who I earn with, as I'd like to earn SYD-DOH return with VA. Should I just not put a FF number then subMit a claim after flight?

Appreciate the insight.

Welcome to AFF.

Yes, you can credit the lot to QFF or another OW airline partner.

Just be aware that changing FF details mid trip can be tricky. Since you’re in Biz, it might
be better to leave FF details out all together and then put in a manual claim for the QR flights to VA and seperate claim into QF for the AY flights. Someone else here might be able to confirm if that’s a good strategy?

Do you have or seeking status with either QF or VA? Or mainly interested in the points?

Note: QR, BA and AY are all using Avios as a common points currency, so that could be worth exploring. If you were able to get status with QR, you can use that flying both VA and QF (along with any other OW airline). I’m not on top of QRs program and how far this trip would get to “Gold” equivalent?

If crediting all flights to one program then no drama.

Thank you both!

I try to maintain gold with both QF and VA. For these flights, ideally I'd credit all to VA, but happy to split. Might be best to file a retro claim after the flight.

Cant comment on VA but the QF website suggests you’ll get 140 sc and minimum 10400 points each way. QF is not generous on QR flights.

It’s not so much “QR” flights but the way the earning table treats flights between the ME and Oz, in particular East coast cities (PER-DOH is ok). But say DOH-LHR is the same for QR and BA.

You’ll certainly get better bang for your buck crediting SYD<->DOH to VA and DOH<->HEL to QF.

Depends on your future flying patterns

From a points perspective you will get most crediting all flights to QR. Avios are useful even if you don't have many particularly for short-haul trips. Also ADL or MEL-Per (though not syd-per) is good value via BAEC (avios are interchangeable between BAEC and QR Privilege Club)

It's different if you want to use the flights toward status. QR status is harder to get so you may be better crediting to BA (if you can get 4 BA flights) or Iberia or crediting the Syd-Doh legs to VA and the Europe legs elsewhere

I'd agree that if you have no status already, it's easier to retroclaim for split crediting
