Where are Qatar AUD Credit Card Payments Processed?

I want to make a flight booking on the Qatar Airways website for a Sydney to Europe return flight priced in AUD. If I pay with my local AUD Mastercard I want to avoid paying a 3.5% fee if Qatar process this payment offshore. I rang the Qatar number 1300 340 600 but no-one could help me.

The flights I've bought from Qatar originating in Australia are always charged in AUD.

The only one that hasn't was a 1 way from Europe to Australia and I have a CBA ultimate card with no foreign transaction fees so I left the option at checkout as Euros.

What was the narrative on the AUD payments? Did it say something like ‘Qatar Airways Melbourne AU’?

If it says something like ‘Qatar Airways Doha QR’ or Qatar Airways London GB’ then even if it is charged in AUD my card will still charge a FX fee.

Not recent but my last two bookings, for ex-AU flights, show 'Qatar Airways Doha' on the Mastercard statements: no FX fee was charged in either instance.

I always book flights in the Qatar app. My credit card Transaction list showed as "Qatar Air ####" (#### being some sort of reference number) and was charged in Aud and no OS transaction fee was charged. My Commonwealth bank ultimate card statement shows any overseas transaction fees charged and reimbursed as a separate line in the transaction list, so I know if this has occurred or not and it didn't charge an OS transaction fee.

My last trip was paid with AMEX and shows “Qatarairways.com Sydney”. Even though it was CGK-DOH-Euro (return) but priced in AUD.
