When will UA return to flying to MEL?

Anyone have any insight on when UA might start the LAX-MEL route again?

Basically it’ll come down to loads through SYD and connections needed in SYD ex-MEL.

WIth UA currently circa $8k return and QF $10-12k, even if the SYD-LAX flight is full, yield must surely be softer than for QF.

Well they're currently selling tickets from 6 January 2022. But whether flights actually start from that date is another story.

Based on the way their fares are filed, I suspect they may be looking to cancel the January flights at some point soon. Not sure about the February flights - they might remain in the schedule a bit longer, or could possibly fly - who knows!

I would be surprised if the MEL-LAX flights aren't back by April 2022.
