On the front end. An airline with pilots that are solid trained professionals.

And when I say professional my definition has nothing to do about remuneration, but more the total elimination of mistakes.
Cabin crew that are polite. Food? Don't care. Hot dogs, schnitzel sandwiches, can of Coke. Whatever.

On the back end. A solid safety culture. Mechanics, technicians and management that understand that the safety and lives of those passengers are in their hands.

And a decent amount of legroom.

I'm getting big prices for anything not originating in AMS.

no. the current QR global sale prices are only valid from the specific departure country, not in reverse (although there will be some cases where both departure and arrival countries will have comparable global sale prices... but Australia is not one of them)
