Hi All

I am a new QF WP previously all flights were with DJ/VA I have to go to Melbourne and have booked the following.

QF 8 BNE SYD then JQ SYD MEL, I have a 2 hour 45 minute transfer time and do undertstand that I have to re checkin for JQ. Will I get to enjoy the SYD F lounge?

Next Day is JQ 2 from MEL SYD departing at 1740 and its says MEL F Lounge closes at 1700 is it like OOL we you would get kicked out

The following day I am on QF19 SYD BNE? Question for this one is I have a friend flying that same day on QF 23 will they let me guest him in?

QF in J Class JQ in whY.

Thanking AFF's in advance for their wisdom.

You might get your JQ BP at BNE, if not just hang onto your QF8 BP and use the transfer facility to access the F lounge after picking up a JQ BP at the transfer desk. Coming back you will be unlikely to be in a position to guest as the guest must be on the same flight as you to get access to the flounge, that's not to say its not worth trying but I have heard yes and no experiences in the past.

How did you get WP status then??

Only if your JQ flight departs from the International terminal. Otherwise you will have to get over to T2.
If you are on say JQ35 then try to get bags interlined, otherwise you will have to go out and stand in the JQ queue which will cut into F Lounge time but you will still get some.

Unsure but departing at 1740 means boarding commences at say 1710 so not much difference either way.

According to the lounge entry rules, No, but YMMV

Doesn't matter. Once WP... Any class any QF/JQ flight gets you the top lounge

How did you get WP status then??

I was compted Gold due to living on the Gold Coast and the rest is from flying and double status credits, I still had to earn 1400 SC to get WP

JQ1/2 are from the international terminals (They are 330 flights)

I have successfully done an OLCI from QF8 to JQ35 & was able to print boarding passes out for both flights as they were booked on the same QF pnr.

Make sure you tell the Customs officer in BNE that you will only be in transit in SYD & you will be cleared as a domestic pax through Customs in MEL. That way you be a transit pax in SYD & not on the Customs computer as a pax meant to clear Customs in SYD.

If you have boarding passes for both the international flights BNE/SYD/MEL there is only a requirement for the orange 'D' sticker to be on the SYD/MEL boarding pass.

If you only get a BNE/SYD boarding pass then you would need the orange 'D' sticker on that b/pass & therefore be required to clear Customs in SYD. If you don't & just stay airside getting your b/pass from the transit desk before going to the F Lounge you will be 'missing in action' as far as customs are concerned.

I realise there are people who have done the above scenario without issue but I don't know how Customs managed their particular case.

I also know of an AFFer who got into hot water for not clearing in SYD when he should have.
