Hi, I collected just over 100,000 Krisflyer points taking long haul flights from Houston to Singapore frequently about two years ago. I have since returned to working in Australia and have been utilizing the Qantas program as it best suits the flights I regularly take now.

I don’t really know what to do with the Krisflyer points. The Qantas and Krisflyer programs don't appear to have any relationship.

Can I trade out Krisflyer points at all? What would you do?

2nd dibs!

Seriously though, I'm not sure where you are in oz but from Perth, 100,000 should be enough for you and a friend to take return business class flights to Singapore (using the cheapest 'saver' redemptions). You sound like you've already seen the wonders of Singapore many times before, so look at the other destinations that cost the same amount of points. I believe that Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur cost the same points as Singapore from oz (though there is a different rate depending on if you leave from Perth or over east).

If you're willing to fly economy, you will probably get a fair bit further abroard.

Check out the Krisflyer redemption table, downloaded form here:
Use miles on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir

The other alternative is to transfer the Krisflyer points to Virgin Australia for use with them, they are partners. However the transfer rate isn't very good. I haven't done the maths but from memory I think you lose 35% of the value using the transfer option.

The third alternative is to look on the Krisflyer shopping website and get a toaster or something. That's the worst value option in my opinion.

How about you tell us something about yourself - where you like to go, what you like to do that could be related to points.

93,500 KrisFlyer miles + taxes should get you a return flight in business to SE Asia.

Your other option is to transfer to Velocity at 1.35:1 transfer rate so looking at ~74,074 Velocity points for 100,000 KrisFlyer miles.

KF points are quite good value for flights to the NZ/Pacific though I must admit J is hard to find.

SQ points are not transferable between family/friends. Your best bet to transfer into virgin/velocity points.

I got qantas point, how about we swap points ?
:)

Correct - KF pts are not transferable to another KF account - but very simple process to add any friend / relative to Your KF account as a Redemption Nominee and you can then redeem for flts / upgrades on their behalf.

Awesome thanks for the suggestions guys!

I didn't know about the Krisflyer transfer to Velocity so I will look in to that option further. Also how would we set up a trade for Krisflyer to Qantas points?

As for my travel preferences I chose Singapore for the long haul flights as they were the most comfortable planes for that trip when compared to United Airlines although I don't need to fly that route anymore. Within Australia the Qantas flights and between Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide are suiting me right now. I would also like to get back to Houston or NYC visit family in the next year. Krisflyer points definitely don't seem to stretch as far unless you are headed to SE Asia.

Also how would we set up a trade for Krisflyer to Qantas points?

I think it would be better if as Glider recommends above you transfer your Krisflyer miles over to Virgin so you can use them for your internal Adelaide flights with Virgin. And when you have dimished your points with Virgin continue on with Qantas for your internal flights from ADL.

Ok so I transferred the Krisflyer points to Virgin pretty easily. You just link the accounts and then transfer at the Krisflyer website. I didn't check immediately however the points were in my Virgin account a week later so it could complete the transaction sooner. Thanks for the help.
