Could someone please tell me if there is a normal time you can logon to register for an upgrade on points.

It said that registration opens on 17th October. I purposely stayed up till after midnight assuming that once the clock ticks over, it will let me register, but even after refreshing it still doesn't give me that open.

thanks in advance

Silvia

Its 90 days before the flight, so I expect it means exactly 90 days. So if looking to waitlist for a flight that departs at 10am, then the waitlist should open at 10am, 90 days prior.

That makes sense - thank you :)

Guess I can go to bed now!

Sleep well for those of you still up.

Given I have just finished one conference call (at 12:30am) and have another starting at 6:30am, I had better head your suggestion.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I can say from experience that the system will let you upgrade 90 days exactly. I was at the computer and the box on the right which says "Upgrade request period opens [day] [month] 2007" changed to request upgrade when I hit refresh. This happened exactly 90 days before at the time the flight was due to depart. Interestingly enough for the return trip it was 90 days based on the date and time the flight was due to leave. It was the US and they are [roughly speaking] a day behind so I had to wait until next day here (but still 90 days before) which was really 89 days before if you used Australian time/date. I've probably made it sound more confusing that it is- sorry!

Here's a tip that I'll share here ...

The upgrade wait list opens 90 calendar days before the date of the flight.

Who ever programmed the Web site decided that an exact 2,160 hours (24x90) before the scheduled departure time was more appropriate time to open bookings for upgrade requests. Hence the web site behavior tinky observed.

I simply pick up the 'phone and call Qantas on the day, as early as practical and place that upgrade request through the agent. Their systems work on the calendar day (in Oz). ;)
