First time passing SIN since QF-EK arrangement. I am WP but flying Y with wife and 3 yr old. What lounge am I allowed? QF vs BA vs EK? Will I be allowed EK F lounge with family?

What is your flight number (marketed) and who is operating the flight (metal) ?

Depends which airline you are flying on. If you are flying Qantas, you can use the QF, EK and BA lounges.

There is no EK F lounge in Singapore.

EK lounge is very ordinary in SIN. I'd have dinner in QF lounge, move to MH lounge for a massage in the massage chairs, and then head to BA lounge for icecream before boarding.

Whoa! Huh? Disagree there. The tucker in the EK lounge (which is accessible by a WP on QF metal) is pretty good. The lounge overall is much quieter and far less crowded than the QF one (in the evening, pre Australian departures) and lacks the 'buzz' of the daily menu dishes and the bar at QF, but if you are looking for a nice meal pre flight, in a peaceful environment, WPs should use their entitlement to the EK lounge. Champagne too, which the QF lounge noticeably lacks.

And no, shall we say ... um .... well, I'll just say it. No bogans acting as if they were in the pool hall back home.

All lounges in SIN are much of a muchness.

Do we have to go through individual preferences every single time?

A lounge is a lounge is a lounge....

P.S posted from the CX First and Business Lounge is KUL Satellite terminal when I have got access to the MH Golden First and Business Lounge? Why? Because there are real PC's here and I can post on AFF without having to use those stupid Samsung machines.

Oh, goody.

Only if people choose to. If you don't choose to, I'm sure there's another thread to contribute to.

Care to reconcile those 2 statements?

Someone asks for a lounge recommendation on the 4 lounges available and everyone gives their own opinion of which lounge they think is best. Over and over. They are all pretty much the same.

No need to reconcile. There is not a lot of difference between the regional MH Golden Lounge, sattelite Golden lounges and now I am trying out the CX business lounge for the first time and I am the only 1 in here.

There are 2 hot food choices, soft drinks, self serve beer in the fridge which you have to ask for in the other lounges and 7 desktops and a printer and I do not have worry about using Samsung machines I cannot use. But that is my own preference.

HKGNZL why do you not just google this and look at the Qantas website where it states eligibility../

QF website doesn't cover access to EK lounges, only QF lounges. Unfortunately the EK web site isn't helpful at all, having a footnote:

Please note that all members travelling on flights operated by other carriers (including Emirates codeshare flights) are not eligible to access the Emirates Lounges. Please visit the Qantas FAQs to find out more about access to Qantas Lounges.

This simply isn't correct when it comes to some QF passengers.

A Qantas industry Q&A sheet issued a while ago says the following, in part:

5. Do Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum One, Platinum or Gold members have access to all Emirates
lounges?
Platinum One, Platinum and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers will have access to the Emirates lounges
where available across Australia, Europe, North Africa, Asia and the Middle East (when their next
onward flight is a Qantas (QF) marketed and Emirates (EK) operated flight). <note the bracketed comment refers to Middle East only>

6. Can eligible customers access both Emirates and Qantas lounges where they exist in the one
port?
Yes. In Australia, while eligible customers will be initially directed to use the lounge of the
operating carrier, they will be welcome in either the Qantas or Emirates Lounges in that port
(subject to seat availability and opening hours).

The upshot is QF WPs can access the Emirates lounge in SIN. However I have seen no guidance regarding guests who (I assume in the OP's case) aren't WP.

Give it a go and let us know :)

The key part of my question is whether I can take both my wife and 3 yr old to EK or BA lounge? I know I can for QF. Had trouble before doing so in CX.

Ho ho.

You choose one lounge over another specifically because of differences in amenity. So is a lounge is a lounge is a lounge in KUL?

BTW agree to avoid the MH First lounge. Pretty ordinary. Platinum Suite in the Satellite or the regional Lounge in main terminal both better. But probably not for computer access.

The BA lounge is not that good. Less hot food options than the other 3 OW lounges.

You have nothing to lose by going to the Emirates Lounge which is near Transfer Desks C. If rejected then head over to Qantas Lounge.

LOL! The second comment was an after thought as I had not known this lounge existed.

And I still maintain a lounge is a lounge is a lounge. Whether it has a cabana or not, whether it offers this champagne or not, whether it has a desktop or not are all individual preferences and are not going to matter to everyone.

I am about to head over to MH Golden Lounge to try and tackle those Samsung beasts and then over to main building regional Golden lounge as that is where my next flight is departing.

I believe yes for EK Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas

Emirates lounges

Platinum members and above are entitled to bring up to two children, aged between 0 to 17 years into an Emirates Lounge. This is in addition to your normal guest allowance.
Gold Frequent Flyer or Qantas Club members who wish to bring a child aged between 0 to 17 years into an Emirates lounge, will be counted as the member's one guest entitlement.
