Hi,

I have the Accor Plus membership through Amex (squeaked in just under the line to get it). I definitely have a free night, confirmed via the website. My questions are:

1. If I book the free night and then cancel (well in advance, let's say months out for argument's sake) do I lose the free night or does it get put back in the system?
2. I am also unsure what they mean with the official documents section - if I reserve my complimentary night months in advance, is it locked in or does it somehow need to be available on the day of check in (what does that mean?).
3. Finally, I have platinum status through Amex, do the benefits still apply to a complimentary booking (in my case, the lounge access and late check out are of interest)

Thanks all!

The two policies are below:

Cancellation policy :No cancellation charge applies prior to 18:00 (local time), up to 1 day prior to arrival. Beyond that time, the first night will be charged.

Official documents to provide :Guest must be an Accor Plus member and must present a valid membership card at check-in. The Complimentary Night needs to be available and processed at the time of check in. If not, the member s rate of the day applies to the booking.

This is my experience/understanding of the Accor Plus free night.

1. According to the cancellation policy you have quoted you will be able to cancel the free night up to 1 day prior to arrival.
I made a supplementary payment with my free night on a non-refundable rate, so in that case I was not able cancel my free night.

2. It is possible to hold bookings for more than one free night. However, once the free night is actually redeemed for one of those bookings any other free night bookings will revert to paid bookings. Your account will continue to say 1 free night available until you have used the free night e.g. you book for a free night for 1 April and also for 10 April, when you stay on 1 April your free night is redeemed, if you check in again on 10 April you will be required to pay for the room even though you booked it as a free night.

3. Can't help with the Platinum question

Cool, thanks for the explanation on #2 - that, if not "makes sense", at least I understand where they're coming from…so thanks!

Anyone else know if status still applies for award bookings? I have to imagine it would, since otherwise you'd be penalising your most loyal customers. Anyway, I'll book it and I can always cancel! :)
