Hi all,
Have Flown WESTJET twice so far and have another flight booked and paid to go(only 1 hour Montreal to Toronto) $600 in flights..
Second flight bag came out first but was damaged.
The offers were:
1. Fix bag....not possible as stuff in bag and moving.
2. Credit for future flight to be negotiated as to damage done. May not fly them again as Australian.
3. Get bag fixed and send the bill.....as per one.

Ended up saying I will email what I want done.
I have sewn up bag after photos taken but its rough.
I don't have time to get it fixed.
My offer of money back on paid flight was declined.

Should I buy another bag and contact travel insurance and get them to sort it out?
Seek free flight?

regards

Bag broken = Fix bag / new bag.
Can't see you getting anything else.

My only one experience with QF was filed report at SYD Int, and they gave me letter to take to Samsonite repair place near Sydney Town Hall

How old was the bag? If quite old, then "fair wear and tear" may be responsible for the damage.

At any rate, get a new bag and either forward the invoice to the airline or claim on travel insurance.

Would not even have occurred to me to suggest you should get a refund on the flight ticket ......

Unless it was a bag worth a zillion bucks, just put it down to Life and move on. Not worth the time. Sh_t happens. etc.

Frankly I think they have made three reasonable offers and you should have chosen one of them if it was really important to you.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge that there is a limit to the compensation you can get and accept their offer.

I know this is off the original subject but flew with Westjet on a number of occasions when last in Canada, flight from Vancouver to Toronto was cancelled as a result we missed our train connection to Niagara Falls.

Westjet arranged for private bus to deliver us to our motel, from our experience they offer good customer service and if things go wrong try to rectify, would easily fly with them again.

Just didn't like every time we landed the plane safely t6he passengers applauded, thought that was what we paid for!
