I bet others on here may have heard of people trying to do that RosaAnna. Good luck and let us know how you get on with the cancellation and the reapply. It is certainly worth a try.

Been reading this thread and it seems everyone is taking advantage of these sort of offers. I have ANZ Visa Black with the connected ANZ Amex. Am I right in assuming there is no point applying because I already have an Amex as I am sure most members would by now? Or am I missing something?

Your ANZ branded Amex is bank-issued, and thereby doesn't exclude you from applying for one of the Amex-issued cards or from getting the bonus points. I did just that (I have a Westpac Black Amex) and now have the Qantas Premium Amex (with lovely bonus points!)

I tried, I pleaded and begged and cried.... you know... all the tips and tricks in a woman's coughnal but nothing helped. Well, this has taught me a lesson and hopefully others as well reading this thread....

As Briar said, you can have several, especially if they are issued through banks. I think my next on will be an ANZ Black combo with MC and Amex.

I wonder if you had just straight out cancelled it for personal reasons, and then in a week or so just reapplied.

I dont know, it was already issued and on its way in the mail when I saw the replied in this thread. Had it in my hand the next day. Way too late now....
