Sorry if this question has been asked before but I would like to know if anyone has managed to redeem 4 x J class saver awards for MEL to SIN? If yes, how did you manage this impossible feat?

Any strategy in searching for availability? E.g. search 9+ months ahead? look for weekdays or weekends? Waitlist first then call up SQ "chaser"?

Thanks in advanced

I don't like your chances of 4 x J awards on the same flight. Maybe search for 2 different flights (2 J on each).
You need to check daily and constantly during the day and grab the seats immediately they are released.
The seats I grabbed were found around 6:00am, others here may have a different experience.

Another thing, I wanted to return to SYD but found MEL so grabbed them instead. Something better than nothing.

Thanks Buzzard. Do you use any tool to search (e.g. expertflyer)? Or just go to SQ site and check constantly?

I'm even contemplating 2 J and 2 PEY instead, so at least the family still on the same flight...

Yes this is plenty possible if you book 6+mths out - you might need to be flexible on days / flt times but it is achievable. Mid Dec I booked 3 x o/w J Savers MEL-SIN-PVG on 218 for May dep - I did dummy booking post tix issuing and 1 x J Saver was still showing available. I subsequently upgraded one J flt to F (R) which meant 2 J Savers taken from rdpt invent - I just checked right now and it shows 1 x J Saver avail on that flt - NFI if that indicates someone else has grabbed a seat or what or whether invent control will release another or what - but anyways yes not at all unusual for 4 x J Savers to be avail.

Many thanks Cruiser for setting the record straight. Hopefully jimmy finds what he is after.
But to answer the question, no I don't use any tool to search.

I have often booked 4J Savers to destinations near SIN that transit through SIN such as Vietnam and Thailand. I once gained 5, but that was a glitch.
As part of my research over the years for various trips to parts of Asia and Europe to test which was the problem leg when bookings showed no avilaibility I would try dummy bookings for MEL-SIN and in doing this could often get 4Js.

Further afield such as to Europe more than 2 has not always been possible and mainly seems to have happened by glitch when I have achieved it including once gaining 3 saver Fs. I think there was a year or two though when you could book 3 Js to Europe as I certainly achieved it a couple of times on non-glitch bookings.

An alternate strategy with several MEL-SIN flights per day is to book 2 per flight.

I did a random search of 4 x J saver on MEL-SIN for 18 Oct and every flight on that day has availability. Doesn't appear to be as impossible as it might sound.

Yeah, just did a few search, some seats are being released (pretty sure the SQ237 was all waitlist when I last search)... thanks all for your help!!!

Another data point, I get 4 * J Savers on MEL-SIN-HND at peak season near Christmas 2017, with only 2.5 hours transit time. I noticed that the one with short transit time are taken first. Then you are left with options of long transit time or overnight stay.

Yes the earlier you book the shorter transit times that can be booked.

Though sometimes even when you book the minute the window opens you may still only get long transit times.

I've never had trouble getting 4 x J savers with SQ (albeit flying out of Brisbane). One of the quirky things with SQ I've discovered is award availability seems to increase closer to departure date. For instance SQ246 departing tomorrow (29th January) has 4 x J savers. Waitlist is your friend, especially with multiple flights per day. Of course A380 flights are the exception as they are more sought after than the 330's. With flights onwards from Changi, I've found booking the two segments separately always seems to show better award availability then searching as a single booking.
