Ok so Flybuys has gone through an "enhancement" and EDR has gone missing in relation to QFF bonus points!

Ok so what are the best redemptions now on offer at Flybuys?

My personal favourite is the flybuys dollars. 2000 points = $10. There are better options available but they don't suit my lifestyle at the moment. The credit is loaded onto your flybuys card and you use it like eftpos at the register. Just remember to tell the checkout operator how much value is on your card.

I got an email recently offering some of the rewards at a better conversion rate than 0.5cents per point. There are tickets available to some theme parks where 2000 points is equivalent to $12.50 (according to the email). I haven't researched the full price of the theme parks but I know that groups like RACV etc offer discounted entry tickets to some tourist venues and these might be better value than using flybuys points.

If your local Coles sells lots of Mix Apparel clothing then there is a $20 gift voucher for only 2000 points which is being promoted as a "double value" voucher. I can't use this as the only mix products at my local coles are underwear and I don't need to spend $20 on that. I'm not exactly sure how these vouchers work so check the web page carefully for this reward as I may have forgotten some of the details here.

My email also mentioned discounted Hoyts tickets but I believe there are lots of ways to get discounted movie tickets so I don't know whether this reward offers good value or not. Movie nights end up costing us lots in babysitting fees so this isn't really a good option for us but others might enjoy it. The email claims these e-vouchers work out as $20 for 2000 points but I suggest reading the terms and conditions first to make sure they would be good value for you.

I don't know much about the travel redemptions. I think they convert as 0.5 cents a point and you need a minimum of 50,000 points to start redeeming this option. You can take advantage of airline specials. I guess you would have to investigate this option to see if you can get better than 0.5cents per point. I have heard this option has a booking fee as well. I could be wrong about the minimum number of points to redeem the webjet option. It could be 10,000 points or $50 value. Sorry for any confusion.

Using Webjet, a $109 fare becomes 21800 points.

Considering it's taken me ~3 years to hit 40k points with EDR, and I'm not doing too badly in that regard considering I don't eat a lot and don't have a CC, I'm not sure waiting a year and a half for a one way flight in Y is my thing :p

But good to have the option.

Will just have to focus on those massive bonus offers.

500 points per bottle of certain spirits is not a bad kicker, the salad dressings are not bad either at $3.50 for 100 points, good for a BBQ :)

Noted ;)

I'm off to First Choice today though as my card just arrived :p

Dont forget to price match with BWS, 2 for $75 on some of the bonus point offers, and there is a BOGO wine for $10 that attracts 100 points.

I'm only going there for beer... a particular beer I enjoy that is exclusively stocked there and not at BWS, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered signing up to Flybuys :p

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I wonder why the got rid of the direct redemptions with Virgin and Qantas? IMO I thought they were the best redemptions Flybuys had. Plus I wonder why they got rid of the travel gift cards at Jetset and Travelworld? I guess to get the deal with webjet. I guess the webjet deal might be useful if they have a good sale.

I think some of the hotel redemptions with Flybuys might be good value. Plus I don't like they new system of you loading "flybuy dollars" on your card. I preferred the old system of gift cards. Then again I only used gift cards because my points would expire before I could actually get a flight. Now points don't expire if you are active, however I don't want to redeem a toaster! :p

has anyone used the "trade 1000 points and get an extra ten cents per litre off" next fill up? I figure this could be very useful especially coupled with a large bonus offer.

I applied for this on the web site two days ago (and interestingly just found the confirmation in my spam folder)

This seems like a good use of fly buy points. Once 100 litres is reached on the fill the points traded become worth 1c each. Not bad considering that the most they seem to be worth in many other scenarios is 0.5c

So my plan this afternoon is to spend $70 for 16c off (targeted offer) and hope the extra 10c discount pops up on my docket as promised. 26c per litre off with a multi car fill.

If it goes to plan. I'll let you know

well it worked and I think this is such a good find that I have started another thread..complete with a photograph of my docket

ahhhhh gotta love these games sometimes

What I hate with the new flybuys, is that automatically you are given the option to use the points for $10 off. I'm not complaining, BUT I would rather save the points for many years to travel overseas! (ie: don't often use flybuys / points no longer expire).

Even though I would say no to the discount, other "co - holders" of my account say YES.... Might there be an option to tick NOT WANTED on their website, or over the phone to them, so the checkout staff don't even ask?

I just used 4000 points to puchase a $30 liquor voucher. Then logged on to 1st choice to purchase some champagne for delivery and applied the voucher for $30 off the total.

The prices are very competative and I consider this to be a good redemption

4000 points for $30 sounds like a good deal. I'd usually redeem 4000 points for $20 flybuys dollars to use on groceries. It's a pity I don't buy alcohol.
