Have just completed a 5 night stay here.3 nights were free using the Q2 free weekend nights promo.I felt the Plat recognition here was very good. There are people unhappy as suite upgrades are rare.having seen their list with over 60 plats staying on the saturday night and 30 on the sunday night i was not as worried.
despite 3 nights being absolutely free with not even a points charge we were upgraded to an executive floor room.it is quite large by Tokyo standards and we found it very comfortable.

The accessories in the bathroom were extensive and well presented-

The other benefits apart from lounge access were breakfast in the main restaurant which was fantastic, free gym access and discounted admission to the health club over the road.Free wifi in the lounge and a 50% discount for in room internet access.
As to the area we really enjoyed the precinct around here with a branch of Mitsukoshi and the Sapporo beer museum.Acess to the JR line is easy and can be done under cover the whole way with at least half the distance on the moving footway.
I will post some more pictures.

A selection of the lounge breakfast offerings-

During the afternoon there was a reasonable supply of pastries and cakes.
In the evening the snacks were limited-a few sandwhiches-and I got to quite like the pumpkin ones! Also pumpkin soup, crisps, olives and typical japanese dry snacks.Reasonable wine though.

And now a couple of shots of the restaurant breakfast,I just love the Japanese pickles(and what an artistic bent i have!)-

The selection of pastries was awesome-as well as what's shown there was french toast, waffles and pancakes-

As I said we enjoyed our stay here and would rate this a better experience than the Sheraton miyako and the Tokyo Hilton.Next time though it will be the Conrad-on points.
As to all hotels, indeed travel whether it is the best at the time depends on the price you pay-this time it was perfect!

Hi,
An excellent review again as always with nice pics.
Am planning to stay there in Jan 2010 - your review has made me choose this over the Sheraton

The location of the Westin is also heaps better than the Sheraton. Having said that the Hilton is my home as it's right in Shinjuku, within walking distance to some great shopping, and a JPY880 cab fare to nights of drunkenness on Shinjuku ni-chome.

Apart from our ages the difference we have is that i get drunk on free grog:p:shock::cool:

Free grog also liberally supplied at the Hilton Executive Lounge - including PH NV. Though I rarely make it there in time for happy hour as I find regular hotel lounges boring.

Just wait until you are as old as I-boy lounges are just so jumping ;)

Just echoing what Dr Ron said about Westin Tokyo. It's a nice property, and services were good. They were very apologetic about not having a suite or a 'major upgrade' available at the time (as I understand it, there many massive wedding party bookings) but still gave me a rather nice, spacious room.

The lounge is present and the breakfast is good there. I didn't get round to going downstairs for it though. Also the cafe downstairs has nice cakes.

Ebisu station isn't too inconvenient for getting around either.

One thing about the bathroom items - if you think Westin Tokyo ones are extensive, wait till you try the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. They are a bit more hidden away in individual boxes, but I was quite impressed. I also found services at the Imperial even substantially better than that at Westin. One thing that goes as a big negative about the Imperial is the location, however - it's not very convenient for anywhere leisure visitors tend to go.
