ONLINE travel business Webjet will pay $25 million to bulk up its presence in Asia through the acquisition of the Zuji travel website in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The acquisition represents a unique opportunity to expand Webjet's marketing footprint in the growth markets of Asia, managing director John Guscic said on Wednesday.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yuck. Reduction of competition in the sector, and I am sure the fee structure of Zuji will change for the worse..

Zuji was very good for complex itins and avoid cc surcharges

oh well CX holidays is usually cheaper than Zuji, shame to see them go but I won't touch the amateurish webjet with a barge pole

+1 for the yuk, I dont go anywhere near webjet and now zuji

I supose in a maturing market, consolidation is likely to happen but when the poor takes over the average it still equals poor

Somehow I don't think we are their target market. I see plenty of comments both here and elsewhere about their service yet every year their transaction value and volume just keeps on increasing. Clearly someone finds their service useful, as a population we aren't all expereinced travellers and even if I don't book with them have found them quite useful as a comparison site.

indeed, imagine there are plenty of non-frequent flyers who fall for their marketing (much the same as flight centre in AU I'd think) book a return point to point and dont have an issue.

they'll learn better when there's a retimed flight, cancellation, need for a refund etc - I expect a similar curve of increasing horror stories (again like flight centre) in the press that will take the shine off their performance in time.

I was looking at a FB whinge just before - anyway, BNE/HVB can be had on QF in January for $106 each way. Both Qantas.com and WebJet show the $106 each way for $212 return, but W/J final price is $252, even with CC fee QF's is $220.

Very disappointing as I find Zuji usually quite competitive. Webjet is possibly the worst OTA i have seen, both for price and functionality. But I can see how they do well, many people ask about booking on webjet, and they get a resounding NO. At least there is still expedia.ie.

I think Webjet has a place in the market - if you are stupid enough to use them then you deserve to pay the additional fees they charge.

Well I guess I won't be using "Zuji" any more.
