Our flight is booked on QF paper. As we are both lifetime GOLD members we usually gain admittance to the QF Business Lounge before a 23.30 departure. Is the lounge open then? If not, are other options available?

According to the Qantas website the lounge will be closed at that time unless the flight to LAX is delayed by 2+ hours. Fiji Airways sends their J passengers to Marhaba Lounge. Not sure if you will get any lounge access.

I thought as much. Another example of Gold or Platinum status with QF not being worth anything. I was Platinum for over a decade and was one of their best flyers since 1987. I retire and no credit given -- I'm now reduced to Gold.

Sad, but true. It is good to remember that airline "loyalty" is a one-way street while it lasts (i.e. while we pay them).

It would be worth something if you were flying on QF metal, or if FJ were flying at a decent hour.

For what it's worth the MEL INT J lounge is terrible, but you could still go in until the LAX flight boards (unsure what the earliest time you can check in with FJ).

Some airlines won't even give you access to their own lounges when you're on a codeshare operated by another airline.
