Hi all,

I need to be at DCA by 5:45am or so.

There is a metro stop right inside the hotel lobby (Grand Hyatt).

Wondering if it is safe to travel by metro at that time of day (HLO).

I arrive the night before at 23:50, so again, ? safe enough or better off with a cab.

Can't help you with the metro, I only used it during daytime and it was perfectly safe. I used supershuttle to DCA, I think it was $15

I haven't been on the DC Metro since 1999, but I can say with 13 year old memory that the Metro is more savoury that taking NSW Cityrail or QR Citytrain. If I'm travelling for work, my big question is whether they take the Diners Card?

The latest I had been at a Metro station was just before 11 on a Saturday night. Although the stations look dark and gloomy, I felt quite safe. But the early morning I can not comment on.

Check the time table as I am not sure if the Washington Metro will actually run that early on certain days.

I found it perfectly safe during the day time.

Super shuttle is one option but cab is probably not too expensive either as DCA is very close to town.

Thanks AFFers

Metro is available from 5:20am, arriving at DCA at 5:40am for $2.50

Supershuttle picks up much earlier at 4:15am !!!! for $14 (no later option for the 6:30am flight).

Given the anxiety travelling on the Metro at such an early hours, probably I will call a cab at 5am.

Got to start the (SC) run in safety
