Please explain?

I'm led to believe the visa costs are quite high for Russia.

I have the APEC card that is approved for Russia, however I don't believe I can use it to enter as tourist?

Always wanted to go however!

Alright, so it does look like going to some third world country.

foreign citizens are not permitted to enter Russia independently without being hosted by the authorized Russian travel agency or hotel during the whole period of their stay.

Type of visa - Normal fee - Urgent fee
Single-entry - 135 - 270

Wow

It's not that much of a hassle really to sort visas. Wife and used visalink (.com.au) who organised a month long visa and "voucher" for $110 each in 2010. We nominated various cities but travelled where, when, and however we wanted once we'd entered, without any hotel reservations at all. Certainly a great country to visit.
