I am looking at getting the family to Europe early next year.

When I look at SQ redemptions I can see availability for up to 3 pax and then moving it to 4 J pax on the same booking shows all flights go to waitlist. I booked as 4 on the same booking and are currently waitlisted.

Going back and looking at the flight again, I can again search successfully for 3 pax. I was hoping that my waitlist would take up those 3 seats. I fear that people (you guys) could book 1,2 or 3 seats while my earlier waitlist may not clear until SQ release a block of 4 seats.

I'm thinking of booking 3 + 1 to make sure it happens.

Has anyone had any experience getting 4 J seats booked in one hit? A call to the call centre I'm guessing.

Hello Alby I would split up as you really don't need to hold hands on flights. Do them in twos or a three and a one and your set.
There are plenty of flights so be brave with the splitting up idea.

I have the same issue as there are 4 pax in my family. Just back from Europe from ATH and I had split mine in pairs 6months out and both were confirmed after several phone calls to SIA. Calling SIA asking for them to place a chaser thru would also help.

I have just booked 2 x 2 J fares from MNL. One confirmed. Waiting for 2nd booking to come through. Have called SIA to hurry them up.

Agreed. I was hoping to avoid too many booking numbers and tix.

I have 4 J savers from PER/SIN and SIN/MEL at Christmas on waitlist. Maybe I should try it as 2 x J bookings?

I did that earlier this year as well. Have four pax on waitlist. Then I went to the same flight and did a trial booking for 2 seats and was able to see them as Available. Not to say I could have completed the booking as maybe there is a further check down the line.

Maybe give the call centre a call and discuss options before cancelling your current place in the waitlist queue.

My experience has been that historically, apart from glitches that:

* You can book 4J to many Asian destinations
* But to Europe is was virtually always capped at two (though I gota glitch 2 Easters back and got 3F there and 3J back from Milan)
* However after the change in the points tables that you can now book 3J to Europe.

So yes if you have 4 to Europe then two fights is probably best....or do *A on Thai.

I would take what you can and leave as few as possible on waitlist. You are right in that SQ is waiting for 4 seats before they give you any. In the meantime, those 3 other seats are available to anyone and if someone wants 2, they will take them off you and you'll be left looking for 3 seats instead of just 1!

Waitlists are a funny beast and I always treat them with raher a lot of caution. You are at the mercy of the airline yield gurus.

Hello Alby, did you split up or get 4 seats?
We split up if we have 4 or more going and I just click on confirm when I see the flights and connections that suit us.

For four people I split the booking process. We have one person not currently riding the same flight BNE_SIN_BNE but I feel it is acceptable. It will be January by the time we have to accept the current arrangement and I'm optimistic things will have turned our way.

Is 3 easy to get for J saver?

and how would you book it? Book 2 first and then the other one later?? or all 3 is very possible?

Where are you going? SYD-SIN-xx_
If you are not mixing classes and you are going on 777 or A340 your chances tend to be better for Saver in J.
Obviously start ex SYD but if you get dust look at starting ex BNE and/or MEL. If that is no go look ex SIN.

Will most probably be SYD-SIN-SYD

It is not the end of the world to go Standard points but only if you live in the land of plenty (of points).

I had a million points a month ago, but after 2 x F MEL-SIN return saver, 4 x J PER-SIN on WL, and MEL-LAX 4 x PE, they are disappearing fast!
