Virgin Atlantic has announced that the inaugural route for its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be between London Heathrow and Boston.

The six-times weekly service will launch on October 28, with subsequent routes between LHR and Washington, Newark and New York JFK to follow.

The carrier is due to take delivery of its first Dreamliner in late September. It will be the first European airline to receive the larger B787-9 version of the aircraft.

Good to see more airlines getting ready to take delivery of the 787. This will be the third 787 route to BOS I think.

Why do you think it's good more 787s are out there?

If the general reports of 3-3-3 seating in economy for most airlines are correct that would not be an experience I am looking forward to in the slightest.

Well it's not any worse than a 777 in a 3-4-3 configuration. Simply the 787 is quieter in the cabin than most and the windows are fantastic IMO (I know plenty of people don't like them). It's currently the cutting edge of what's flying commercially. If we're not going forward with technology, we might as well be going backwards.

I'd happily go backwards in seat numbers to avoid that seating config :)
