Voltage Converters for US Travel

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what, if any, voltage converters are good for using Aussie 240 volt appliances in the US? And what's the cheapest option?

We're just checking to see if we need them for things like re-charging mobile phones, rechargable camera batteries, kids' gamboys, etc.

Many chargers will operate on both 110VAC and 240 VAC. Check the casing of the charger and it should indicate if it is dual voltage.

If you current mobile phone charger or battery charger does not work on 110V, then it is going to be cheaper (and a lot less weight) to buy new chargers that are multi-Voltage than it will be to carry a 240-110V transformer around.

All electrical devices sold in Australia must state their input voltage somewhere on the device. This involves mobile phone and battery chargers etc. So have a close look at the device and look at the input voltage. If it says 110V-240V then you are good to use it in the USA and will just need a plug adapter to adapter to the USA plug type.

Some cheaper mobile phones sold in Australia are only supplied to a 220-240V charger. This includes cheaper models of major brands like Nokia. But they will also sell an international charger (110V-240V input voltage) as an option.
