Suddenly the Visa Mini card disappear from the NAB website and got confirmed from the card centre, the card is no longer for sale. Feel a little bit sad for NAB as this card is very competitive in the market, combine good looking (mini card) and low annual fee plus 0.5% cash back:(. Anyway it makes NAB offer least ranges of credit card type in the big four.

Mini visa's are probably being withdrawn as they won't be chip'n'pin compatible, and many credit card machines are going to "insert card" rather than "swipe card".

NAB probably should roll the other benefits of the card into another one, but who knows what they will do.

Got replied from NAB as below:

Dear Mr wxxnxs

Thank you for your feedback about changes to our credit card product range.

I appreciate your comments however the Visa Mini card is no longer for sale.

We are also very conscious of our competition in the credit card market. However, currently, customers are faced with at least eight product choices when looking for a NAB credit card. We have reduced the number of products available to ensure our available product clearly addresses a specific customer need. The intention is to make it easier for customers to select the product they will receive the greatest benefit from.

A good alternative to Visa Mini is the NAB Standard credit card as it offers a similar low fee. Another factor is that the Visa Mini was originally launched with the feature that you could have a card that was “mini” in size at no additional cost. The “mini plastic” is no longer a feature as part of a security update.

Thank you for taking the time to write and for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

Regards
Customer Resolutions

It seems they are not planning to transfer those benefits to other cards, they are reducing their card types. Now they only offer 3 kinds: low rate, low fee and frequent flyer cards. Not a good marketing search, the most popular rewards cards have none in NAB.

Yeah, that would be the "Chip'n'Pin" type issue. Additionally, the card probably can't support a Visa payWave chip either, so there's another Visa technology that it wouldn't be able to handle.

It is a pity that they want to reduce their cards down to a core set, and remove ones that people actually want. But I'm sure they've done their sums, customer research etc etc and think it's the appropriate thing to do .
