Virgin to Fiji 2022

Fiji Airways are One World Connect, some sort of hybrid One World partner.

Qantas' pre Oneworld connect agreement with Fiji airways is the same as the one now. Very confusing for most but in short you must be booked on a QF flight number and using a QF operated lounge (except Nadi where you can use the FJ operated one).

Oneworld connect does give a handful of other limited benefits such as priority check in, baggage and boarding.

Still no VA reward seats........

Have changed my QF reward Y to reward in J on Fiji metal on A350 (ex SYD).
They've clearly opened up a few more J rewards as I snagged 3, I was pleasantly surprised, was only 1 avail last week.

Also interesting is that the "international short haul" tab of the business class page no longer lists lounge access as a perk.

Probably because the contract lounge is closed at Sydney still.

The contract lounges VA uses in the SYD/MEL/BNE international terminals is now owned and operated by Swissport.

The SYD and MEL lounges were the former Etihad lounges.

I have noticed today that virgin has removed all of their fiji flights from their system. both 2021 and 2022.

Anyone with bookings know if it's a system glitch or virgin is simply changing their plan of flying intl.

My booking is still showing and I've not received notification of a flight change, yet....

Thank you man, I am suspecting they are having some sort of system overhaul. However i can find flights to all other destination, just no Fiji...

I was about to book hotel, but then without visibility to flights, can't really go ahead with hotel bookings...

I noticed yesterday at some point many flights were removed, some not all, was odd, but just put it down to them fiddling with their schedules, who knows. You'd think they change them then reload all new ones, I don't know how this stuff works, others on AFF will be knowledgeable on it.

I've opted to fly Fiji airways next Feb anyway.

I am trying to fly around Dec, so too much risk to go Fiji airway in case of cancellation… have no use of Fiji credit.

With virgin at least I can cancel and get some use out of it. About to cancel my Syd to Cns flight early Dec… and go Fiji instead

Qld miss out on more tourism, ah gotta love the health advice.

I booked with QF points so same deal with refund credit etc.

Plot twist... VA never had any intention of operating Fiji flights and now the border announcements have occurred they've quickly pulled them.

After todays announcement it wouldn't shock me if they'll come back with more than before.

I'd give them a day or two... My guess is that they've been caught off guard and the VA operations look like this right now:

If the media right now is correct then even the federal government wasn't told until they heard out like the rest of us.
