Hey all,
Was making a booking and noticed this in the booking options...something in the wings perhaps? It has been said for a while now that an ATR will be based in MEL - so the booking engine getting ready for next year OR is it a bit like the presence of ASP on the booking engine, providing us with false hope?
Thoughts?

I saw this too! very interesting, and would certainly shake the QF/ZL duopoly up a little.

If REX can have 4 daily services, I wouldn't rule out up to twice daily on the ATR.
I wonder what the ATR would do the rest of the day though?
A positioning flight would seem wasteful.
Maybe LST flights would switch to ATR operations.

Mildura? Albury? Mt Gambier? King Island? Complete stabs in the dark those are.

I notice also that both Proserpine (PPP) and Airlie beach (WSY) are on that list, can't check now but I don't think VA do both?

Alice Springs is there too, which VA don't do. But from memory that's been on that list for about a year, I remember seeing it in a thread.

Virgin do fly to PPP and have launch connections to WSY. Those are both bookable on the site. In terms of other destinations, I'd suggest that flights to MQL would change over and there would be flights to either ABX or CBR such that there is a cycling of ATR a/c through the network. And whilst it's not something to rule out, I think DJ is on to too much of a good thing in LST with its jet services which see solid numbers (note the gradual change over to more and more 737s/week compared to E190s/week.

They have done it previously, which may be an explanation. There should be an ATR a month being delivered over the next year, no doubt they need to expand the operations, although I expect the FNQ milk run will be the first priority given the yield QFlink achieve both in numbers and fares.
