Hi All,

I took advantage of the 40% off reward flights back in Feb and booked my wife and two daughters BNE-LAX-MCO return using Delta for the US internal flights.

I am unsure of baggage allowance if any on those reward flights?
if not as a VA Platinum member, what allowance do myself and my family receive? the VA wording and Delta wording is a little ambiguous to me.

Thanks in advance.

What status do they have?

When I travelled on a Delta flight (AMS to SLC) on a flight booked with VA points, I was given the same as though I had paid for the Delta flight. Ie as VA Gold, I had added baggage allowance and slightly higher boarding priority than a nobody. If it was internal USA, I also would have expected lounge (DL dont have a lounge in AMS).

I don't think your status would come into it, but happy to be corrected by someone else.

if its all part of the 1 itinerary , your international baggage allowance should carry over,

Its a separate booking from he international legs.

my confusion is around the following:

VA website says for WP "Additional Checked Baggage Allowance - Receive the same allowance as Delta Gold Medallion members"

then the Delta website says this about "Delta gold medallion members"
To reward your loyalty, your first checked bag fee is waived with Delta Medallion Status or as a SkyTeam® Elite & Elite Plus Member. Traveling outside the U.S. and Canada or between the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, you will be able to check one additional bag over the standard cabin allowance. A Medallion Member traveling in Delta One can check up to 3 free bags at 70 pounds per bag. These benefits are subject to any applicable embargoes or regional weight restrictions in place. Please see our excess bag page for more detail.

The benefit extends on the Medallion Member’s reservation to a total of 8 travel companions, when traveling on a Delta-operated flight.

ok, so your BP should show status-sky priority etc, and you'll be allowed 2 checked in bags for everyone on the same booking as you.

Flying with Delta last year we were both VA Gold but I wasn't at first. Only my husband. The family of four had free bags (one suitcase each), priority baggage and boarding. There was only one flight of about 7 where the priority baggage wasn't done as the check in person flat out refused to do it as she thought we weren't eligible. This resulted in a wait at LAX for about 40 minutes for our bags. The amount of people that take gigantic wheel aboards on domestic Delta flights is outrageous. They all charge on board to find a spot to stow their bags. Bring popcorn (ofr the show- we saw arguments, tantrums etc) and a bag that fits under your seat for the domestic flight. If they have comfort plus seats they get priority boarding too. Flying Delta was like travelling on a flying bus.
