Long time lurker... first time poster.
Had been trying for days to find feedback on the ADL lounge, but to no avail. Having now walked in, and settling in for a 5 hour wait until my flight back to Brisbane, I figured I'd post some feedback on the Virgin Lounge as it looks today.
To qualify, my lounge experience to date consists of a handful of visits to the Qantas Club and once or twice to Chairman's Lounge. I did visit the Melbourne Virgin lounge some years ago, and watched the Bewitched film in the theatre (that might help date it??).
Walking in at about 3pm, I was greeted by a lovely staff member and offered a print out of my boarding pass. Formalities out of the way, I perused the buffet. A little lacklustre, however sufficient for a mid afternoon snack. A couple of deli meats, Swiss cheese, a choice of salads, rice cakes and sliced bread. There is a mushroom soup on offer, but to be honest it looks as though yesterday's guests didn't care for it and it's still up for grabs? Having been up since 3:30am this morning, I requested a double shot latte which was delivered to my table promptly and was very well made. I'm impressed with the selection of alcohol and the service is superb.
As of right know I have moved into the desk/workstation area, laptop out and connected to the free WiFi; Asahi and chips at the ready. Very quiet around the corner here away from the TV's, and easy to concentrate on all important work emails.
About 20 or so travellers here at the moment. Will report back in a couple of hours to review the dinner spread
