This has put a big :p on my face , if the bar opens in a weeks time . Plan to be there in Feb

But yet they can give you a card that entitles you you to go downstairs and order vodka shots and beer chasers, which i am considering doing.
Apparanetly the bar will be running in a week.

I am in there now. It is quite nice, but no no booze. Barman said the liquor licence had been granted and the place will benserving grog in a week or so. I can't bring myself to go downstairs to Gladstone's right now.
Where is it located? When I was in terminal 3 they told me it isn't open yet. Looks like you know more than the staff!

It is upstairs, in the same space that VA has had a lounge in for the best part of twelve months.
You said yesterday that you were told it wasn't open for a VX flight at 11am in the morning. Justinf was obviously there to catch a VA long haul flight. So the VX staff were correct.

You go towards the Starbucks and there is a flight of stairs immediately after. It's at the top of the stairs. There is also an elevator, but I just took the stairs. There weren't many.
The staff are great. They managed to call downstairs and get a seat blocked next to me in Y+ for the flight back home. It will be a nice little lounge when the booze is finally flowing.

There's only so much parmesan crusted fish one can eat.

I've done 2 x VA trips to US in Nov, and it's getting to the point where I'd almost consider going back to QF without a proper lounge. 6 hour layovers is cough at LAX without a decent lounge, and they better get a working wireless service too, i found it even more unusable than the VA lounge in SYD during peak.

I prefer the sauteed prawns with croutons, parmesan and lettuce than the pretzels they have at the Delta Sky Clubs.
Just on the Sky Clubs, as a Velocity Gold member, I had no problems getting into them in my recent trip. Even flying Alaska out of LAX, they let me in because I had just come off a Virgin Australia long-haul flight from MEL (the shower after a 15-hour flight was bliss). I also used the Sky Clubs in Portland and Salt Lake City without any hassles by just showing my Velocity Gold card and my BP for an onward Delta flight. The staff at SLC was unbelievably helpful when I queried what time the LAX check-in would open. She made several phone calls and helped me beyond the call of duty. The Sky Clubs are nothing special, especially with US airports having free wi-fi anyway. Certainly not in the VA Lounge or QF Club offerings, but a good place to relax nontheless.

No pets? What a joke. Typical LCC attitude!

On a more serious note, the ban of children under 12 (even when accompanied) is interesting. Presumably that won't apply to VA pax accessing the Loft.

Looks like the VX lounge is finally up and running at LAX ... with a proper liquor license.

No mention of a shower, but otherwise looks good. It will be great to not have to hang around in T3 waiting for VX flights; it is bad at the best of times, but after a 14 hour flight it is almost unbearable. I'd think many people will find the $40 day pass very attractive. Oh, and great timing, I'll be there in a week! ;)

Shower is a major "miss" in my opinion but unless they completely gutted the bathrooms I doubt they have added them. So I'd personally still lean toward DL for onward connections to LAX when inbound to the US. But this looks to be a pretty good space to kill some time in the evening whilst awaiting departure.

Here's a bit of a puff piece, including a video:

Hopefully if VX goes broke VA has enough cash in reserve to buy the Loft .

I'll be there in 3/4 hour to check in for my LAX-SYD flight this evening. I'll be interested to see what it's like.

Well done on finally getting this up and running Virgin....

But no showers in an international lounge is not a good move!

It looks pretty good.

2 beers on tap, a hefeweizen and Bud light, with another two taps that haven't been activated yet. Also choice of two bottled.
The bartenders a young friendly guy who brews his own beer.
The rest of the lounge seems unchanged from what I've seen of previous photos..

I have no idea why a photo I took over Dehli has attached itself to this, but it would be nice if a Mod could delete 'cause I can't seem to!
