In 2014 or maybe earlier, VA started giving Government WOAG travellers on B and Y class fares access to domestic lounges, although they didn't advertise it widely.

I mainly fly QF and have QP membership but on occasions where VA have the best fare of the day (or the only other horrible option is JQ ) I have availed myself of the VA B class lounge access.

VA turns out to be my best option on my next trip but I can't see any reference to the access policy that has been written in the last year or so. Has anyone taken advantage of this access recently?

Looks like I made my last opportunity (on Apr 28) to avail myself of VA lounge access while on a WOAG B class fare.
The new contract arrangements to VA for WOAG contract users (mainly APS staff on official travel) specifically note that lounge access is no longer available to these ticket holders from 1 May 2016
Preumably VA are no longer after the government market, or maybe those left in the APS flying are choosing VA over QF, given QFs cancellation of flights, particularly on secondary routes such as HBA and subsequent dumping onto JQ ?

I wanted to resurrect this thread to continue of from this discussion as I have only recently realised the AFF resource.

I took advantage of Virgins complimentary lounge access on their government purchased flights semi regularly, and as above (quite frustratingly at the airport lounge) was informed that they no longer are offering the deal.

The lady at the lounge desk did however inform me that Virgin will be introducing a 'discount scheme' for government employees to purchase Virgin club access.

I was wondering if anyone had heard of a special 'government rate' to Virgin Australia Lounge?

Thanks for your reply ksthommo, do you know how much the discount is? And do I access it by emailing the government relations officer?
