Virgin do I cancel now or wait

I was meant to be flying on Friday Brisbane to Perth using the Amex $375.00 credit.

Do I cancel now to get the money as a credit so I can book a new flight heading to Prosperine in May.

As its an Amex $375 I don't want a refund.

Just making sure there are no fees with cancelling before the flight is cancelled.

VA fare rules apply, so depending when you booked you should be able to cancel without penalty. I'm not sure what happens when it's an Amex credit though. I cancelled my free Amex flight and it just reactivated for me to use.

You would have thought Virgin could have joined the 2020s in flight cancellations and done them online without human intervention.

I did mine using the request form.

Both Red buttons show ACCEPT CHANGE but I am sure they have different outcomes.

The 2nd ACCEPT CHANGE is give me an option for the 9:15am flight on the same day.

I received another email this morning showing I had been moved to the morning flight.
While eating breakfast I decided to ring Virgin see if they could cancel it for me, after 10 minutes and with breakfast finished I canceled the flight.
No recognition by email or on the system that I had canceled the flight, this sort of thing should be able to be done online.
Anything you offer online should be able to be reversed.
Even scammers seem to be able to send emails why can't an airline.
Virgin get with the 2020s.
