Hi all,

Went to book a flight to Wellington because of the specials currently on. Entered in my dates etc and got this (Flight shows $149 on Oct 24)

Clicked through to find that there were no flights (in fact cheapest flight was $198)

Same flights cheaper on Air NZ. Rang up Virgin, they told me to book from the Air NZ site and that my VA status (which includes baggage) would mean I get baggage from ANZ. Rang ANZ - nope. Rang VA back again. Could get me the flight over on the 24 Oct for something close to the original $150 - but the return flight on the website for $105 was around $230.

The guy on the phone couldn't do anything. Tried a bunch of different dates the website and same issue.

This seems to be a common problem - the guy on the phone can't give me anywhere remotely the same as on the website. This is the fourth time this has happened - first three times were explained to be website errors. So why does the website show there are flights available for a certain price if there isn't? Seems a bit misleading to me.

Couldn't book ANY suitable flights. Thanks Virgin.

I am doing the same search 24oct and can see VA68 for AUD148 available and can be booked ( unable to add screen capture)

however your display does not show that flight you can only see 1 direct flight ? something does not add up ..... have you tried a 3rd party site like Zuji

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Kind of weird your problem. Either it's intermittent or someone's read this and "fixed" it, because I've just replicated your search on the website and I can find a $148 fare.

(Brutal timing, but them's the breaks, and not the point anyway... :))

I have had the same experience as you with the VA booking website, however in the opposite manner! The price showed in the calendar page was higher than when the price shown when I went to choose the flights for the selected date. A pleasant surprise - but yes, the VA website is terrible. I just spent my last half hour trying to navigate through it for another matter.

Got a bit of a workaround for future reference...

Tried in firefox, chrome and (grasping at straws) IE. Still no luck - tried zuji and webjet. Still failing.

Tried to get it using reward seat - exact same (poor) flights come up - but book with anyseat economy and it comes up for the prices I want! Had to use some points but I really didn't know what I was going to use them for otherwise.

So a small win at the end of the day but this might be useful for others I hope.
