Sure this would have been front page news if it was QF...

Cracked Windscreen Forces Virgin to Make Emergency Landing

A Perth-bound Virgin Blue flight was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday morning after a crack appeared in the Boeing 737’S windscreen.

Flight DJ289 left Melbourne bound for Perth at 10.25am Saturday morning, but was forced to land in Adelaide an hour later after the cracked windscreen was discovered

Yes, a front page story,, and a NEW FLASH on the TV ,

It amazes me all the time, how much control / influance over people the Media has,

A little earlier that same morning a Virgin aircraft struck a bird on rotation out of ADL. The crew warned the tower in case the carcass was still on the runway and a little later queried if the carcass was found intact (presumably checking if engine damage was possible). All very routine of course.

Now imagine the headlines if it had been a Qantas aircraft - "Qantas cruelly killing wildlife", "Qantas endanger passengers on other airlines", etc.

Richard.

More likely checking to see if it was of any use to their catering department.

How does a crack in the windscreen just appear midflight? Presumably the crew had been looing out of the windscreen until that point?? :p

Stress from flight? I'm sure one of the more technical/engineering ppl on the forum will jump in and explain!

The article notes it has happened b4 to DJ - which resulted in a sudden drop and 9 people being taken to hospital.... Now there is a headline for a newspaper! (Oops sorry bad news being publicised only applies to QF stories ;))
