Have started this poll as it would be interesting to see whether frequent flyers are wanting a complete, partial or no rebrand to DJ.

I have allowed the ability for multiple selections.

V Australia or nothing at all. I don’t think Virgin australia sounds that great! Plus, how much are they paying for naming rights anyway? If it’s a lot, and going to rise, better to just pick a new name I think.

+1 rebrand needed. I prefer V Australia over Virgin Australia, but that's just me.
Maybe Ansett Australia is available for a reasonable fee? :D

Surely you jest :D

I agree with V Australia sounding a lot better, though....

In order of preference (number of >'s indicating degree of preference)

Rebrand >> V Australia >>> V Pacific >>>> Virgin anything

I hear Ansett is going pretty cheap as a trademark ;)

That would be interesting though, if they did that :)

Or perhaps Compass 1, or Compass 2. Kendall Airlines, Impulse etc, etc.
For me VA is top choice.

Cheers Dee

I’d love to know which 13 members chose Virgin australia, seeing as they clearly didn’t see the need to comment any further…

Virgin Pacific > Virgin Australia > V Australia > Virgin Blue > Rebrand > V Pacific

Regardless of the second word they're colloquially known as just 'Virgin' so I think you'd be silly to lose that.

Virgin Pacific is too east coast centric for my liking.

Mmm its a tough time for DJ.

SQ are not even negotiating, DJ are actually at the moment fighting it out with SRB.

DJ want a single brand - that's public knowledge. DJ pay significant coin to Virgin to use Virgin. The issue is that SRB is still a shareholder and is demanding royalties from the use of the letter V because of its implied value derived from his own brand Virgin (although at this point he does not own the trademark V I believe).

SO sticky situation and the re-brand has been pushed out to probably next year.... The only winners here are the lawyers and QF!

I imagine the probable outcome will be DJ allowing Virgin to buy the V trademark and getting a reduced royalty rate.... I understand SRB's argument against DJ still paying them $.... but think its a pity that they can't sort it out quickly and not leave the business hanging for months....

Virgin Indian?
Virgin Bight?
Virgin Arafura?
Virgin Tasman?

;)

Borrow a leaf out of bygone era of travel .... V Indian Pacific .... or simply Indian-Pacific. Oh GSR might not like that. Nor might Air India.

I say just go a total rebrand and dump the royalties to Branson. The one-off cost of the rebrand would be less than the annual royalties.....
