Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

My step daughter and her husband returned to CBR after VA return flights to DPS. They reported that their fights were normal budget airline flights. All the cabin crew were Australian.

On a early Sunday morning arrival, there were only two ABF personnel processing a plane load of passengers. Uber surge pricing was $200 from CBR to their Canberra home.

They would fly again with VA to DPS from CBR.
We flew in on Sunday. Landed early 5 mins early after pushing back 22 mins late. 3 ADF on passports, 1 roving baggage, 1 collecting arrival cards (ex-DIAC consultant from back in the day so tend to notice the process). We were in the car before 7 and that included me visiting the lounge 🤣 We drove from Newy and I'd rather a 5 hour drive home after a red-eye than potential nonsense in BNE or MEL plus a transfer.

So a choice fare?
Yep, the Choice fare was only $30 more than the Lite fare. The Choice fare includes 23 kg of checked in luggage and a seat reservation.

I thought that my wife and I could save $30 by sharing a suitcase, but she wanted a reserved aisle seat which costs $17 when using the Lite fare. So, I became extravagant and put her on a Choice fare, which means we can carry two 23 kg suitcases to Bali.

On the way home, we will book QFF tickets from CGK or DIL.

JQ does not fly to DPS from CBR. Their fares from Syd charge an extra $60 for a checked in bag and $12 to reserve a seat. From 1 February 2027, JQ will also add $50 for a cabin bag.

Looks like a fourth weekly CBR-DPS flight has been added over Christmas and New Year.

Extra flight operates on Tuesdays.
Speaking of looks like the for the end of June 27 into the first 2 weeks of Jul 27 the flight frequency has been increased to daily, must be performing well to justify increases - https://www.flight.info/VA127

I've seen some fares from BNE via CBR for less than the direct. I wonder if connecting traffic and the fact that it bypasses the rights restrictions has something to do with it.
