Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

The loads for the first few flights are already looking good 2.5 months out for CBR-DPS. I think this will be a very profitable route for VA
I've booked a couple of trips CBR-DPS already for later in the year. I hope the route succeeds, I was actually checking where I could connect on to from DPS rather than flying to SIN. A bit limited but some good points options available with really low addtional fees.

Would love ADL-DPS to return instead of the rubbish we have currently. The VA flights over there were always good and took plenty of those but never came back on them.
When we go back to Bali in May we are going ADL-MEL-CGK-DPS

100% agree. VA suspended the route because of aircraft delivery delays, but now they have a good amount of MAX-8s joining the fleet, I'd love to see this return! Could even be a good MAX-10 route, with its higher capacity and lower per seat costs, that would compete nicely against JQ a321neo

They could even fly ADL-DPS on the E2s if they were worried about loads... but I doubt they'd struggle to fill up 737s on that route. QZ have already exited Darwin and Cairns, so if VA entered ADL, I doubt they'd be able to compete for too long before having to pull out

I saw that VA has options/purchase rights for a further 8 E2 aircraft, which if activated would take the total fleet to 16. With that many planes, they could open up a lot of new thin routes, both SHI and domestic/regional

Members of my family flew from CBR to DPS return over Easter. They previously flew Batik Air on the same route.

They are planning to fly the same route in a few weeks time.,

Meanwhile, there are reports of good bookings on the new AVV to DPS route flown by JQ.

AirAsia is cutting back on long haul flights, making the proposed AVV to DPS flights less likely.

How was that flown? Once a week?
I recall so - at least initially on an F100 by Skywest - the newspapers suggest my memory is correct.
Karratha, WA is also keen for direct flights to Bali.
I imagine Broome would probably be keen as well after the death of the JQ Asia flight to Singapore. Certainly of the three it seems to me to be the most apparent to be set up for this - unless the 'immigration' has been ripped out (not that there was much to it).

"Bring back PHE"
"Karratha is also keen"

By who? Who exactly is keen? You'd think there would be direct routes if there was demand and not by some keyboard aviation warriors who think they know best.

If there was any demand Jetstar probably would have tried it already.

FYI Phe was contracted by the mine sites so their FIFO staff had somewhere to go.

I thought maybe Broome-Singapore seasonal on the E2s. Jetstar previously operated before jetstar asia closed - and with VA's SQ partnership they may be keen

VA has always wanted PER-DPS flights, so if they do one of those 3 they could offer cheap fares from Perth connecting, not ideal, but still helps VA get some of the share of PER-DPS traffic

That's a way to drain money fast.

To fill up those 1 stop flights VA would have to sell those seats at extremely low yield (a huge money loser) to attract patronage and actually have the time to willingly go on a 1-stop flight, which would NOT be many, if any from Perth at all.

Jetstar would struggle to do these, as they don't have any intrastate WA routes, so it would be much harder for them to schedule aircraft, crew etc. Jetstar also has PER-DPS flights, VA doesn't, so VA has more of an incentive to start these sort of routes

Yeah, I know it wouldn't be much feed, but at least they'd be able to have that option available

Broome-Dps would probably be the best out of those three ports. E2 would suit that route quite well. I imagine the government would subsidise it quite heavily, which could help VA. Then again, SIN might be more attractive because of the SQ partnership and the fact its a proven route

If you need the government to subsidise an outbound route like Bali, then it'll be questionable by the WA taxpayers as those subsidies are meant for inbound tourism contributing to the Economy, not "subsidise holidaymakers" (Bogans) going to Bali.
