I too have been. Quite nice. Very wine/vodka-bar feel to it, with *decent* coffee (for an airport lounge).

Worth the fee? If you're going to spend 3 hours in an airport, it's a good place to spend it (free wi-fi and beer/wine after lunch time) but if you're there in the AM or not for that long i'd suggest pulling up a chair at a café there and people watching.

Of course the shower facilities in the MEL lounge are very good too!

And in particular, the MEL Lounge:

I've been, was very impressed.

They've got a rather extensive beer menu (compared to the rubbish on offer at the QF Club) including my favorite, Asahi.

I would suggest its worth it if you have a good hour or more to kill, if you've got less than an hour I'd probably struggle to find value in any lounge by the time you board.

I have been a couple of times. It's very nice. Single entry prices are going up to $55 soon though. Make sure you check!

As a new user with the gratis Priority Pass I received thru' my Amex Plat, I was very impressed by the VA lounges in both Melbourne and Sydney recently - perhaps it is just that the QCs have started to look somewhat jaded (despite upgrades) or maybe it's that the food is always the same there...the general vibe was more relaxed, staff were friendly and obliging and there appeared to be less posturing (IMHO) - perhaps due to the lower incidence of business types/suits...
