Virgin Australia > Velocity cleans up at the Freddies [Again]

And Qantas never asks its staff to advocate the virtues of that airline?
As far as i'm aware, QF hasn't sent out anything to vote for in regards to Freddies.

No need to get so defensive about it though, just pointing out what happens. Jetstar also used to do this with SkyTrax award abouts 8-10 years ago, then that stopped because I don't think they cared anymore (and i think SkyTrax filtered through IP address so there weren't dupes).

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I haven't received an email this year to vote. I've double checked my inbox and junk/deleted items.

Velocity may well be the Program of the Year~ for all the wrong reasons! The big Velocity wins are turning out to be Virgin's swansong. Going out in a blaze of confected glory!
Just shows how lame the Freddies are.

I think it's best to make your own decision on what works best for you. For me Velocity is very rewarding so I definitely cannot complain 😁

Maybe not at the moment, though (given it's not possible to redeem points for anything) ;)

To be honest, Velocity is actually pretty good. Family points and status pooling, great customer service, decent requirement to achieve elite status. Unfortunately most Australians could not get away from OneWorld handcuffs.

Maybe VA2 should just be a domestic airline and join *A instead, now that it is a new organisation, and hopefully no objections from NZ, UA and SQ.

If VA could afford to pay SRB for Virgin license fee, use that amount to pay for *A membership instead.

I agree Velocity is a pretty good program, especially the pooling. Alliance membership (and yes, I know why it was difficult to achieve) would have enriched it further. Before the suspension, the value of a Velocity point for redeeming J long-haul, assuming availability parity, was better than QFF.

I hope it survives, and there's a VA and partners to still give us decent redemptions.

But for now, I'm earning Velocity points on incidental transactions only if cashback or Qantas are not available.

Yearly Velocity spams it’s members for weeks, plastering on its website as well - begging for votes so they can win an ‘award’ then put such ‘award’ in their marketing to try and boost their business to pay for said ‘award’ in their marketing campaign to then enter again to win the award’ the following year...

The results are therefore meaningless.

You point makes sense, the more you ask, the more votes you get, true.

However, VA spam people, maybe they know that they have a high net promoter score. They would not be spamming their customers if they have a NPS of 5 or less. This is how VA get votes.

If VS (not VA) spam me, I may consider lifting my fingers and vote for them. If QF spam me, I will definitely lift my finger and stick it up to they know where.
