About to book a domestic flight with my gf, but they will be on separate PNR's - hers will be booked by her employer and mine will be an Amex freebie. She's Gold, I'm Red.

Whilst it will only be a short flight - MEL - ADL (this time) - we would like to sit together. I'm 6'9", so have a strong preference for an exit row or row 3 seat ( on 738).

Is it possible to link our bookings?

Does Gold still give access to row 3 at booking? If bookings can be linked, would I also get access to the same seats as her?

Haven't flown an E90 yet - any recommended seats for us?

Gold doesnt usually give row 3 access....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've had success in this situation ringing up and getting seats together as Gold and Platinum (row 3 only for Platinum I'm afraid)
Need to confirm at check-in that the link has stuck. Once it didn't but was sorted out at the desk. Have generally found VA very accommodating with this

Last month I attempted to link 2 separate PNRs for a MEL-ADL booking. Rang Virgin and they said it was linked no problem and that we would be assigned seats together (husband on work-booked ticket, 3yo daughter and I booked by myself). Weren't able to check in online as we had child items with us (stroller/car seat), checked in at airport and we weren't seated together... Flight was nearly full so check in agent couldn't get us any seats together (neither could the agent at the customer service desk). Pretty annoyed as I specifically asked on the phone a week before the trip if linking the PNRs would mean we would get to sit together and was told definitely yes :(

That was one of my concerns.

I've done this a number of times and it has worked every time however, the GCC staff have always made it fairly clear to me that it doesn't always mean the link will stick. I think it's better than not linking the PNRs as it does seem to work generally, but it's not guaranteed. Nor is row 3 for anyone. Golds (and it seems reds) can get row 3 if you're lucky, but just not at time of booking. Doesn't hurt to ask whilst doing the PNR link though.

Just linked mine (plat) with a friends (red) for syd-lax....just ring and they can do it.

Just takes a few minutes. The higher status member should ring.
