Virgin Australia updates Buy on Board Economy Menu.

Tbh they load it at the start of the day and if it sells out that's it. It costs $ to load more during the day and the accountants don't want that.
It's always sold out on the Queenstown route when I've been flying, without fail (on the return).
As in row 3, the first to order flying back to MEL with no fresh food left.

On international flights people spend so items sell out. Would recommend byo tbh as it's not guaranteed there will be fresh food.

Amazing how Jetstar can get this right (pre order so no wastage) yet VA can't.
Unfortunately, VA's booking systems and software (e.g Sabre, etc) are very limited in what it can do, a limited version acquired as part of the Borghetti legacy, as opposed to the full software acquired by Full Service carriers and some LCCs/Hybrid carriers.

The chances of Bain and/or Qatar putting in the money to upgrade said systems is minimal at best.

I am fairly sure they are still using Sabre Sonic. Probably with a million patches.

The chances of VA doing any major change to Amadeus or even New Skies is practically zero, cost is one thing, however they likely lack internal IT capability to even take on such a change, and the big elephant in the room, the risk of a changeover going pear shaped.

VA and Velocity’s software are just trash. I would probably take a longer term view and perhaps plan an upgrade say 10 years away, get the ball rolling now. I think even New Skies would be a step forward compared to what they have now, pretty basic but VA is just a basic airline at the end of the day.
