[FARE GONE]Virgin Australia SYD-HKG for $685 return

Found a very cheap V Promo fare to fly SYD-HKG return. It is a codeshare operated by Virgin Atlantic (the SQ codeshares are approx $1000 rt). I have checked random dates in June and in October and they still seem available, even on the October long weekend in NSW.

Spotted on Virgin Australia's own website but they charge a $25 credit card fee.

Also on Expedia.com.au or travel.com.au.

EDIT: The fare is now gone, may have been a mistake as it was only available for one day.

nice work - MEL > HKG is $720 return via SYD (on Virgin Australia's website). If you go on Virgin Atlantic, it's $1340 return... basically getting 2-4-1 !!!

Great find!

Hi phat-dave. I cant get the VA website to accept HKG as a destination from MEL. How did you do it?

Thanks I can do it now too!! Must be fat finger syndrome at work. But you cant get BNE-HKG (via SYD) anybody know why?

It's a great airfare, no doubt about it.

Pity I don't want to go to HKG on Virgin.

Very tempting to switch from my normal QF/OW to take advantage of this offer. But this fare just seems way too cheap with the cost of fuel at the moment.

But would need to put up with Y on VS :( PE and J is a different story :)

Tempting although VS economy does not have good reviews.

F the VA site - MBA + Google Chrome - Crash city...
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. Was it meant to be so cryptic?

Buy it then buy up to PE on departure or an extra leg room seat...

Yes I can't find any now either, but could yesterday.

Must be gone unless someone else can find it.

Need to jump on the things sooner.

I saw similar pricing, but no way I'd travel on Virgin Atlantic Y again (was 4 years ago and I class it worse than United Mel to Lax)

Can I ask what was the issue with VS Y? Was it the seat? Seat pitch? Service?

I only travelled on VS Y once and that was LHR-JFK and for the 6 hour flight it was ok. But the rest has been in Upper Class J and was fine in my opinion... I travelled SYD-HKG vv and NRT-LHR and LHR-SFO in Upper Class.

Upper Class on VS is like a different airline and not forgetting that Virgin America in Y is a very different product to Virgin Atlantic in Y.
Y had broken and dirty seats, very poor seat pitch, a lot of broken IFE and/or controls that didn't work, probably the worst food ever eaten on a Y flight around the world! FA's were pleasant, however very scare throughout the flight (probably embaressed by what was on offer)
