Virgin Australia Lounge

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered, but I really couldnt find a thread or info on this.

Do you have to be travelling on a VA (or associated partner) airline to be able to use the lounge if your just a bog standard paying member?

Yes. There is no Any Time Access for paying members.

If I am a Member, in order to access the Virgin Australia lounge I must produce my Membership card or quote my Membership number and provide satisfactory proof of identity (e.g. driver's licence) along with my itinerary or boarding pass for onward travel on Virgin Australia on that day. If I am a Member I am entitled to invite one Guest and two children aged two to twelve years inclusive to accompany me into the Virgin Australia lounge free of charge (subject to space availability).

Drav, that's correct. Paid members (even if they hold Silver status) need to hold a boarding pass for a Virgin Australia flight that day to access the Lounge. "Anytime access" (ie access without a boarding pass) is only available to Gold and Platinum members.

An interesting "corner case" would be whether a Lounge member with a boarding pass for an OOL-AKL flight could access the new OOL lounge. The Lounge terms and conditions state pretty clearly that international pax cannot access the Lounge but the unique practicalities of the OOL lounge open up new possibilities. Going to be a bit tough for the Lounge Angels to be denying pax entry to the lounge because their flight departs from the other side of the glass wall, when if you were flying SYD-AKL or MEL-AKL you'd be welcomed into the Koru Club.

Good question. Lets see how it unfolds. Anyone need a status run to NZ ex OOL to test it?

I’ll watch that with interest especially seeing as the JQ Lounge downstairs is touted as for use with international pax before they head to Japan, and presumably now AKL/ZQN/wherever else NZ too.
