Virgin Australia Discover Gold (Status Match)

I applied last Tuesday (10 days ago), still no response. I'm in no rush since I got flights booked for mid-September, but if they take longer than Qantas to reply to my emails that's not a good look.

I sent the email last weekend. On Thursday they responded asking for a copy of the QF card and did it the following day, so 10 days sounds like worth following up/resending if my timeline is typical.

When flying with VA - absolutely. But it sounds like the service when actually getting the status match processed leaves a lot to be desired...

That was where I emailed per the advice I got over the phone.
that's what I did, I got the auto reply with case number.. followed up a week later (which was Tue last week) and I got upgraded that night or Wed night.. can't recall.. only reason I called to chase it was I have a flight tomorrow.. I'll earn 30SC this week so I just need to work out the cheapest way to get 50SC from BNE :)

  • Tues, Aug 9 - Called up VFF, was told to send my request along with picture of my status match status through to [email protected]. Recieved autoreply with case number advising 5 business day turnaround
  • Sun, Aug 21 - Replied to the above autoreply
  • Wed, Aug 24 - Called VFF again, following up with the case number, was told that they would push this through and I should expect a reply in a day or two.
As of today still nothing :(

My flight's not for another few weeks but I hope they do get back to me. Not sure how everybody else managed to get through so quick!
 
Any credit card sign up bonuses giving status credits at the moment or on the near horizon? SCs on the ground unsurprisingly seem to have dried up since borders opened again and most of my flying in outside the next 3 months.
 
If you apply for the match does your 3 month period end in exactly 3 months / 90 days or at the end of the third month ( 30 /31 ) ?
 
Finally got my status match today! Took too long though :(

The whole point of the status match is to attract your business. That's not a great way to introduce a potentially profitable long-term customer to your airline's customer service...

Looking at my travel calendar, however, the earliest I could fly them is in December meaning I should enrolled in the status match sometime in October so that the 90 day window falls within the date I plan on flying with them.

I'm curious if Virgin made any announcements of when the match would end?

I agree. The only saving grace for them is that Qantas is taking just as long to fix my Platinum "sorry" gift 🤣

There's no end date - the offer is ongoing (or until pulled).
