Has anyone successfully redeemed a Trans Atlantic J reward seat on VS via VA call centre?

I'm looking for IAD -> LHR. On the Virgin website it routes me using Delta via Atlanta/JFK, but VS has a direct flight. But can't find much info on whether availability is a problem with VS?

Availability is generally OK (subject to the usual caveats; avoid peak travel periods and book well in advance), but VS flights don't show at all on the Virgin Australia website. You need to call Velocity to check availability/book.

You can search for VS award seats on Virgin Atlantic's own website as a guide. The availability via Velocity may differ, but this can be a good indicator.

I've found availability to be shocking on VS and still haven't been able to redeem a seat. Nothing to do with Velocity - this is trying to redeem directly. Good luck!

I rang up recently to book a VS reward JFK - LHR next May. There was availability but the rep seemed very non-plussed at having to go and check. Apparently the system they use is very slow and they have to check each flight individually.

Any reason to go from JFK vs IAD? IAD uses the A330, but by May next year they should all be refitted to use the same layout as the 787

You can also use advanced search through delta.com to find VS availability.
A random search and there seems to be some availability in J. Don't quote me, but I'd expect what you see on delta to be same as what's available to VA...

This led me down the rabbit hole of looking at other reward options.

Has anyone redeemed velocity for Delta One before? (assuming they have availability). Is it the same number of velocity points as a normal delta J redemption, or is it classed as F?

I'm flying LAX -> IAD but could easily fly to DCA instead. This would be put me on a 757 with Delta One class - a bit nicer than First class for a West/East flight.

Delta One is priced as business class with Velocity.
