Vietnam airlines to commence PER

Looks like VN will also start PER from SGN within a week of VJ commencing flights.

3 weekly 789 service.
I am beginning to wonder if this is another 'scoop' on that site that is of very doubtful value. Still no reports except the original claim by Airlines Rating and another site quoting them. Nothing on Vietnam Airlines or Perth Airport websites.

If it's the infamous Geoff Thomas, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

It does seem that Geoff Thomas was correct this time. There was a small article on page 3 in "The West Australian" newspaper announcing these flights. Thomas used to work for them but now appears to be only an occasional commentator. More importantly the state Premier was quoted as welcoming the new service so it appears more likely than not that it will go ahead. But as there is still nothing on the Vietnam Airlines site until the first flight touches down nothing will be certain.

I know Geoff Thomas was often been bagged on this forum, but from memory no-one actually come up with evidence that anything he wrote was incorrect.
I am sure that there was some big prediction that he got completely wrong but as I can't find anything egregious I can't really dispute your point.

All that said, it's a while since I've seen anything from him in The West. But if he came back, it could only improve the rag that was once a fine newspaper, until Stokes took over some years ago.

Yes it has certainly gone downhill in the last few years. Most of the journalists appear to have been sacked with much of the content bought from other sites. Once I saw 'articles' by the likes of Andrew Bolt appear I knew that things were going bad. I mainly get it for the occasional local news items and of course the sports coverage. Over 40 years of subscription does make it a hard habit to break.

Rather than start a new thread I wil just pop this here.

We have received an e-mail from Vietnam Airlines advising that from 26/9 they will be using Terminal 3 at Changi rather than Terminal 4 as current.

Vietnam Airlines are just starting to push their Perth flights. Out of interest I had a look at flights in next February. It came out at around $3,900 return in J.

They still seem unable to price a Perth/Europe return trip. It just comes out with no seats available.
