Hi,
I have been VFF Gold and a while back selected Hilton Honors as my partner hotel. After the usual hellabaloo that most it seems to have experienced in getting VFF and HH talking to each other all was fine. When clicking on VFF benefits, it indicated that Hilton was selected and was informational only.
Now, I have just clicked over to VFF Platinum, and to my surprise, when I click on the Hotel Benefits, I'm presented with both options (HH and IHG) as a Diamond and Platinum Elite respectively. It does say that it's a once only deal, but the VFF online system doesn't seem to validate this.
I've read here and there in dispatches that some people have been lucky and tried again once attaining VFF Platinum to get their HH status upgraded. So firstly, if I did elect to go down this route, what are the chances of success? My intuition is somewhere they'd work out there is a double dip and it would end up being a pointless exercise and beside the difference between Diamond and Gold for HH is not a significant,so no major gain, however it would close the chance of option B below.
Now Option B gives me some further optimism. What is the likely outcome if I elected to take Platinum Elite with IHG - who I haven't partnered with VFF befor?. IHG don't know that, VFF may put two and two together (despite their systems not being able to).
As an aside, I'm not totally sure how I'd actually use the IHG benefit as it's going to be push to retain Hilton Gold so will be directing my stays there, although back to the first option, if I did nothing and failed in my attempt to retain Gold with 40 nights and I double dipped by pulling the trigger on trying the Diamond option out in March next year, that may be worth a punt?
Anyhow, curious as to the likely outcome of the scenarios above.
