Off the wall thread: but
If anyone is ever into that sort of thing, ie, to try for the 30/40 vending machines (location, in Japan, outside Tokyo), try typing in Used Tire Market Sagamigahara store, 2 6 6 1-1 Shimomizo, Minami Ward, Sagamihara.
Unlikely that there are many people who would like to try it, but it took me a very long time to find out it.
Best reached by car, but can be done by a far walk from public transport!

Obvious question, but can you find some of the more 'peculiar' vending machines there? Well I guess everyone's interpretation of that is different.

Assume you're referring to the infamous used panties machines. I would imagine it's very unlikely to find them that far out of Tokyo and amongst family-friendly machines.

Tokyo Damage Report used to be an excellent resource for tracking down weird Japanese subcultures around Tokyo and surrounding prefectures, but alas hasn't really been updated for about 7 years. Many places do still exist though, including Rope (that sort of store) which TDR wrote about in 2003 and was apparently still there in 2017.

If you were asking about the more 'vanilla' sorts of machines - freshly cooked pizza, roasted sweet potatoes, gyudon, etc - good chance you would find something like that here.

Yes, that is the one.
One of my future must dos.
For a long time, I tried to find that place on the map, via google map, and couldn't find it.
Now, just waiting for VA to link in/ink its FF liaison with NH, or have to go via SQ SIN.
I am into these sort of thing, not into going to see that big lantern at Asakusa though.
Will also try my daring with catching Japanese buses.
Sagamihara station, then bus 21/23/25/27 and then a bit of a walk.
I am daring myself to give this a try when our international borders reopen.
After many hours of looking, I see that there are buses to get close to that vending machine village/city.
All depends on when Aust govt will open our borders again, now they say not till 2022, ouch, long time to wait!
Thanks for the background, everyone.
