Just recieved this, thats a very long time for 'Scheduled Maintenance', I wonder what they are doing?

Dear Mr Devereux,

This message is to advise that between midnight (AEST) on Friday 8 June and 6:00am (AEST) on Monday 11 June 2012 we will be undertaking scheduled system maintenance.

During this time, some of our usual services will not be available, including:

Logging in to your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account

Making a new booking using Velocity Points

Upgrading using Points

Redeeming Points in the Velocity Rewards Store

Redeeming Points with program partners

Earning Points via the Velocity Global eStore

If you have plans to make a booking using Points or redeem Points during this time, we encourage you to do so prior to the system maintenance taking place.

If you require urgent assistance over the maintenance period, please email [email protected] and a member of the Velocity Frequent Flyer team will contact you as soon as possible.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yours sincerely,

Phil Gunter
General Manager, Velocity Frequent Flyer

Has an expected weekend service outage ever gone to plan?

Looking forward to Monday the 11th June's morning :p

Seems to already be out of action today, 1st June. Can't log in to Velocity, can't check existing bookings .... got a flight tomorrow morning, hope yesterdays Navitaire debacle isn't repeated

They are removing any reference to "any time Access" LOL

One streamlined website?
Getting qualifying flights to work? (mine still doesn't show)

(I can't access Velocity right now either!)

Monday the 11th will be a public holiday too... As long as it doesn't affect the airline's core operation (like check-in, flight sales, etc.), hopefully it won't impact too much over a long weekend...

Good luck...!

My flight to Perth that weekend will make me Gold Status. Hopefully some glitch occurs that makes me Plat instead..

For that amount of down time - I would expect a complete web site re-design that will hopefully be much better than the current one, the current sites are very poorly designed and "dumb".

Grrrrrr. FirstWorldProblem

The people at Virgin who are responsible for the migration to Saber (or is it Sabre, I can never remember?) only started three weeks ago, so I highly doubt they are ready to transition the loyalty program to a new system, I'd say they are just introducing new features to the current one.... Wonder what they'll be?

Would want to be some hell good features. Imagine the business impact this downtime is going to have. Its going to be _huge_

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Personally I hope they are integrating the Virgin and Velocity websites. Swapping between the 2 sites is a PITA

VA seems to have a lot of planned outage weekends/days for there systems.

Correct me if I am wrong but QF don't have very many at all.
