Hi Everyone,

Been a while. My wife are living in Germany at the moment, and she needs to go home to Melbourne for ten days in February. Both Velocity members, I am gold (going platinum in a week or two) and she is silver. We found a terrific flight from Dusseldorf to Melbourne on the etihad website for less that 1,000 Euros - but are those flights eligible for Velocity Points?

Many thanks.

Also, does anybody know when the ability to book Long Haul with Singapore Airlines via the Virgin Website is becoming available? Have always preferred them over practically every other economy airline and am doing MEL - Germany 5 or 6 times next year....would love to save up enough points for a MEL - FRA in J at the end of the year :)

For EY flights it depends on the booking class. A discounted Y ticket may only earn .5 Velocity points per mile

When travelling on eligible Etihad Airways fares and flights with an Etihad Airways (EY) flight number, you can earn Points on your ticket.
You can also earn Status Credits on all eligible fare types.

One thing to note: Ensure that your flight is OPERATED by Etihad. THey have a lot of partners (Air Berlin, Air france, etc) but you will only earn Velocity points on Etihad (or Virgin) metal.

Thanks for that. I think as long as there is something (and of course, Status Credits) we are happy at that price.

Ah ok of course. Are you able to retroactively credit the Air Berlin to Qantas, even if you supply your Velocity number and book on the etihad site?

No ... QFF crediting is primarily based on the "Marketing" carrier of a segment (i.e. Flight Number) - that need to be taken into account before you start referring to the booking class or metal.

An EY flight number will not earn with QFF.

Nor will an AB flight number unless it is operated by a onewolrd carrier.

Points and Status Credits are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines.

There is a T class sold by some travel agents like STA that earns nothing. However I think everything on etihad.com will earn at least .5. I believe that the etihad booking process shows the fare code on the right hand side at one point in the process.
