Why do Velocity Points and Status Credits take so long to be credited when Qantas is basically instant this really annoys me because it will has effected status for a flight previously and will later this month...

This is sort of me venting but does anyone actually know of a reason or is it just a bad system in place.

Thanks,
Jet

what do you call a long time ? it is normally 24-72 hours after travel for VA NZ SQ DL ... if any longer can always raise a retro claim after this time if a VA flight

Funny you say that.. had to wait over 7 days for my points to credit to qantas and I was wondering what was taking so long..

When ever I fly Qantas the points will be there within an hour after my flight... Virgin take 2-3 days I don't see why this is it just bothers me I have had virgin take a week before but never Qantas and majority of my flights are with Virgin..

It's just the way it is and they do state points take up to 14 days to appear https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Help/help-centre/claim-points-flights/ though the rule of thumb is 3 days.

If you transfer money to another bank it wont be there until the next working day ... Just because you think a system is "bad", you say that without knowing what the processes are behind the scenes.

However, if you are checking BOTH the crediting of Qantas and Velocity for posting points into your account you actually don't have faith in either system.

FYI, when points / SC are credited that they effect from the date you flew, not the date it's processed by the system. If you have a flight which changes your Velocity status level I believe you can call them and they will immediately process.

FYI, I wouldnt be surprised if Qantas's system which conducts bookings also is the same used for Frequent Flyer.
However, Virgin's booking system is probably totally separate to the Velocity FF system. Which means there are two "connected" systems in which the delay could be caused by integration / additional verification checks etc.

Thanks, Ill try to call them after the flight that will upgrade me to gold and see if they can process it faster

Both airlines loyalty systems separate from the reservations systems and use a batch process…. One has a lot more regular updates than the other, but I know the other is in the process of significantly improving this process to match or better the other ;)

NZ system - APD etc present when checked on landing. Read one report where one guy said when doors were closed APD and SP had updated to his account so it's possibly there prior to departure!

I find NZ posts to VA pretty quickly. VA to VA if it hasn't posted after 3 days quite often it isn't there after 2 wks. There are glitches in their system I reckon it goes to sleep.

QF has improved for QF flights.

Ive found its hit or miss.

Ive had points and SCs show up within 24hrs and Ive had to phone and chase and was told I was not on a VA eligible flight, despite my booking the flight direct on the VA website (my boarding pass was Air China printed, Silk Air/partner airline metal, VA booking). I had to email copy of my VA eticket confirmation with VA flight number for them to accept.

I find VA to be slow (5+ days usually) but I find DL almost instant! Funny how a partner airline credits quicker....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've just seen a similar phenomenon occurring.

Normally VA flight VFF points and SCs credit on the second business day after a flight has been completed.

My partner and I flew HKG-SIN-MEL and the HKG-SIN leg was credited whilst we were on the SIN-MEL leg - the two legs commenced on the same day.

Integration with DL systems seem superior to VA's other partners. My VA number as has alway registered properly on their system for points and sky priority status.

I've not had that experience. I've had to engage in long-running e-mail exchanges with Delta's staff to get my VA details assigned to a particular PNR.

After one exchange, they directly admitted that they added my details but did not understand why the DL website showed me as having no FF details registered.

In my experience VA takes up to 7days (normally 3) while QF is same day.

I just had to chase up 40sc and 4k points yesterday because they don't know what happened and they told me another week, Eventually I convinced a supervisor to process this ASAP because it will effect my status for my flight after next in a few days

Usually 3-5 days for VA for me. Flew Qantas over Christmas and the status credited while I was in the airport. I also much prefer the booking system with Qantas, clear on status points, FF points and fees for each booking.
