Thank you, to be honest the connection is that tight that I am even happy to sit in economy on an earlier flight to then enjoy the lounge in Brisbane. good to know it can be done on day of departure.

The connection itself isn't the main anxiety but any delays in the flight to Brisbane.

As a velocity platinum you have the benefit of requesting a ‘fly ahead’. Platinums can do this any time on the day of departure, requesting a flight up to two hours earlier than their original (on the major trunk routes).

It is subject to availability AND if virgin allows you. Availability in and of itself is not a guarantee.
